Auer and Engel are GTWC champions again
Lucas Auer and Maro Engel win the overall GT World Challenge Europe title again after 2024. With Luca Stolz, WINWARD Racing also takes both Endurance Cup titles.
Lucas Auer and Maro Engel are overall GT World Challenge Europe champions for the second time after 2024. The title was confirmed by the successful appeal against their disqualification from the second sprint race at Misano. Together with Luca Stolz, the trio also won the Endurance Cup drivers’ title in the #48 Mercedes-AMG GT3 of Mercedes-AMG Team MANN-FILTER, and WINWARD Racing secured the Endurance Cup teams’ title as well.
The season finale at Portimão, on the other hand, was unlucky. After contact with the Verstappen Racing Mercedes-AMG, the #48 spun and finished 14th. Throughout the Endurance Cup, the trio had never finished lower than fourth before.
In the Bronze Cup, Marvin Dienst and Rinat Salikhov fought for the title with the #87 right up to the finale, but it went to Kessel Racing in the end. Team WRT won the overall teams’ title.
